TOMAS SAN MIGUEL

LIFE IN CATHEDRALS

Tomás San Miguel and Jorge Pardo

Once somebody asked them about how much time they had invested rehearsing their duos. They know each other since twenty years ago, so the answer to that question was obvious: " all our life", because all our personal experiences and all of our life as musicians are reflected in the compositions of Life in Cathedrals

In 1988, Tomás and Jorge were part of the I Spanish Jazz Festival held in New York City; there they performed some of their duo compositions that were the germ and strat oh this project. They came bach to New York one year later to perform in the Latin festival held in St. John The Divine Cathedral, where they played songs like -West 43st- witch are now part of their repertory.

The duo is a musical experience totally acoustic; that is way they prefer to perform they music in resonant places, like churches, were the acoustics are so important for their music sound. This CD now released by Sonifolk is the musical result of their touring around several churches in Spain.
Their music sometimes intimate, others rhytmic and dinamic, use composition and improvisation togheter, without limiting themselfs to musical style or specific artistic conceptions.
